Why do you think this happens? This happens because you're not helping your body with sound nutritional and metabolic support.  We all have unique body types.  Some of us are fortunate to have high metabolism, where what we eat is converted to energy our bodies can use, and some of us have low metabolism, where we can not convert all the food we eat into energy, instead it's converted to fat.   This is exactly the case even if you "eat right" and "exercise right". You will still gain weight. Don't get me wrong, eating right and exercising right is a "must do" since it is part of the three fundamentals to effective weight management.

Our "genetic code" has bearing on our metabolism as well.  What this means, is that we are genetically coded to metabolize what we eat slowly so that our bodies convert the food to fat instead of energy.  Why is this so?  Our bodies genetically are identical to what it was when we had to forage for scarce food and sustenance during the early part of our history.  At that time in our history, say around the stone-age period, food was scarce, so when food was found, our bodies needed a way to store that food as fat for later use when food was harder to find.  For this reason, we are coded to store fat. Bodies genetically are the same metabolically as it was during the stone-age period.  So, you can see why 97.1 million (54.7%) of all adults over 20 are overweight.

Other factors that effects how well your body metabolizes what you eat are internal and external environment factors.  If you do not have discipline or if you are not able to manage effectively the following factors, your rate of metabolism will slow down:
