I'm an attorney and really loathe going to the gym and having to pay
the gym $800 per year for both me and my wife. So, we invested in a
Bowflex Xtreme XTLU, which includes the leg extention, the lat
pulldown tower, and the squat platform.
This is something we now both can use easily without
driving to the gym and it definitely lives up to its billing. The
movements are smooth and the power rods(r) may even be harder to lift
than free weights (to some extent). Being that I've been lifting since
HS, I upgraded to the 410 lbs. of resistance and found that I can
barely get up 210 lbs. on the Bowflex (I can bench over 250 lbs. at
the gym) . . . go figure. Also, in order to get a full workout for a
"seasoned" lifter, the Bowflex does require some degree of changing
weights to accomodate the different exercises.
Nevertheless, it is better than having to pay $800
per year for the privilege of going to the gym. I am now curious to
see how much I can lift at the gym after working out on the Bowflex
for about 3 mo. - bottom line: great machine, good call by Nautilus in
acquiring this co. |
